Meeting date changed to second Thursday to avoid the New Year’s holiday.
Spotlight on the 2020 Legislature – Advocating for Our Community's Needs, Challenges & Opportunities!
All of our North Hawai'i public policy makers have been invited to provide a brief overview of the coming session and biennium budget process and predictions, and then hear from constituents about our priorities and concerns. Attendees will be asked to name and rank their priorities and also submit questions - either ahead of time to: WaimeaCommunityAssociation@gmail.com, or at the meeting.
January's spotlighted not-for-profit will be The Community Meal @ St. James and we will pass the basket of kindness to let attendees support this valued community partner. Please join WCA in helping to sponsor an upcoming community meal.
There will also be a brief update on the Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival on Sat., Feb. 1, 2020.
Also quick updates on Hawai'i State's new Vote-By-Mail plans for the August Primary and November General Elections, and County Boards & Commissions vacancies, plus a public safety report by Community Policing Officer May Lee.
The meeting will begin with an introduction of Waimea Community Association's newly elected Officers and Directors.
All invited and as usual, no charge to participate in WCA meetings but membership is encouraged and dues for 2020 are suggested: $15/person; $25/family. WCA is a 501(c)3 so dues are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. We are a "low budget" organization - no paid staff or overhead except expenses for monthly town meetings and our website and community news eblasts. We thank Waimea Elementary and Middle Schools for providing the school cafeteria free of charge for monthly meetings.
Steaming hot coffee provided by Starbucks and cookies by WCA Board members. All invited.
